Let's Give Thanks

Ralph Peters, in his latest column, praises the individuals responsible for the success our troops have had in the Iraqi theatre over the last half year. Peters: “The tenacity of our soldiers and Marines in the face of mortal enemies in Iraq and blithe traitors at home is the No. 1 reason why Iraq has turned around.”

Ralph, who is usually critical of the brass, singles out the exceptions: “Key leaders were courageous, too - men such as now-Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno. Big Ray was pilloried in our media for being too warlike, too aggressive and just too damned tough on our enemies. Well, the Ray Odiernos, not the hearts-and-minds crowd, held the line against evil.”

Peters ends his article on the right note: “On Thanksgiving Day, be thankful for such men.” The honor, valor, and dedication of our fighting men and women deserves nothing less.

I am now in KC still on training. I will be in CA next week.

I have yet to comprehend why some vendors consider DHS military. However, I did get a few discounts
and thanks from the public.

On veterans day, I ate with the veterans at the local Golden Corral.
I paid my full share and had the honor of listening to the many tales of historic value. Oddly, many of the locals were interested
in NYC.

Happy William Blake's birthday, Jason. I don't know if you consider him part of Western culture. I doubt he's high on Rand's list.

JERUSALEM (from 'Milton')

by: William Blake (1757-1827)

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land
